Otoplasty
Restore Balance and Proportion with Natural-Looking Ear Reshaping

Otoplasty, commonly known as ear surgery, is a procedure designed to improve the size, shape, or position of the ears. Whether performed for children or adults, otoplasty can create better balance between the ears and the rest of the face while preserving a natural appearance.
Every ear is unique, and treatment is tailored to each patient’s anatomy and goals. The objective is not to create perfectly identical ears, but to achieve improved symmetry, proportion, and harmony that complements your natural facial features.
You may be a good candidate for otoplasty if you:
Otoplasty can be performed in both children and adults. In children, surgery is often considered after the ears have reached near full growth, typically around age five or six.
Because every patient’s ears are different, your treatment plan will be customized to achieve a natural-looking result that complements your facial features.
We encourage you to ask questions, discuss your goals openly, and take the time you need to understand your options. Our goal is for you to leave your consultation with all the information necessary to make the treatment decision that is right for you.
Otoplasty is typically performed as an outpatient procedure using local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the patient’s age and the complexity of the procedure.
Incisions are usually placed behind the ear where they are well concealed. During surgery, the cartilage is reshaped, repositioned, or secured with permanent sutures to achieve the desired appearance while maintaining a natural contour.
Most patients return home the same day after surgery.
Recovery following otoplasty is generally straightforward.
You can expect:
After the initial dressing is removed, patients are often instructed to wear a supportive headband, particularly while sleeping, for several weeks to help protect the ears during healing.
Most adults return to work and children return to school within approximately one week, although contact sports and activities that could injure the ears will need to be avoided for around 4 weeks.
We will provide detailed postoperative instructions and follow your healing closely throughout your recovery.
