Missy (Melissa) Hawthorne

Melissa “Missy” Hawthorne is a registered nurse with more than 30 years of experience. She spent over 13 years at The Christ Hospital in several departments before moving into critical care, where she cared for patients recovering from cardiac and neurosurgery procedures. A few years later, she transferred to the cardiac catheterization lab, where she worked until she was recruited by a medical device company that developed and manufactured products used by cardiologists during procedures. As a clinical specialist, she educated physicians and staff on the proper use of several devices. She was soon promoted from clinical specialist to a sales role, where she became responsible for major hospitals in Ohio and Kentucky that offered cardiac intervention procedures.

Missy first became familiar with The Plastic Surgery Group as a patient more than 25 years ago, when she became interested in skincare treatments that were new to the area. That experience opened a new chapter in her career. For more than 20 years now, she has worked with The Plastic Surgery Group as a Skincare Specialist. She loves what she does and values the relationships she has built with her patients. Her services include a variety of peels, such as The Perfect Peel and the Skin Better peel, as well as dermaplaning, HydraFacial, microneedling, RF microneedling with Morpheus8, laser hair removal, pigment suppression, and laser vein treatments.

Nursing is not Missy’s only passion. Fitness has been a central part of her life throughout her nursing career. For more than three decades, she has taught group fitness classes and continues to teach spin/cycling, Pilates, and yoga. She also had the opportunity to work with the Cincinnati Reds on the strength and conditioning team during a spring training season. In addition, she has traveled throughout the Midwest, Mexico, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic to educate fitness trainers and group fitness instructors. Missy is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), holds several certifications including Pilates, Olympic weightlifting, kickboxing, and functional fitness, and is a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher. Outside the gym, she enjoys cycling outdoors. Before knee surgery, she completed four full marathons and at least four half marathons. She currently owns and operates a personal training business.

“Helping people look and feel better about themselves is the most rewarding part of what I do.”
