The Procedure
A number of options are available to a plastic surgeon to correct sagging brows and address lines on the forehead. The more traditional approach involves an incision along the top of the forehead and down the sides of the head in or near the hairline. The skin of the forehead is lifted so that underlying tissue and fat can be removed and muscles tightened. The eyebrows are then elevated and excess skin trimmed away to create a smooth appearance.
A newer option for patients is the endoscopic forehead lift. Smaller incisions and a quicker recovery make the endoscope a popular option. A pencil sized camera connected to a monitor is inserted through a small incision allowing the surgeon to see the muscles and tissue beneath the skin. Another surgical instrument is inserted in an adjacent area where the forehead tissue is lifted and muscles tightened creating a smooth appearance to the brow and forehead.
